Building on the great success of previous yMPE workshops in Tokyo and Sydney, the next step brings the 2025 edition to Europe. The yMPE workshop will be held in London, in collaboration with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College London. Scheduled for April 22-25, 2025, a 4-day workshop program will take place at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, the Academic Centre of Reconstructive Science, and King’s College London. This workshop is supported by an educational grant from the Education and Research Foundation of the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP) and is sponsored by the International Journal of Maxillofacial Prosthetics (iJMP).

The workshop will be limited to 12 young maxillofacial prosthetic educators worldwide with a 60% of participation selection given for educators from developing countries. Candidates will be early career academic staff attached to an educational institution that provides maxillofacial prosthetic education courses and clinical services for maxillofacial defect patients. It will be devoted to develop young educators who have high level of specialized knowledge in maxillofacial prosthetics and willing to act as global leaders and cooperate with their counterparts in other dental and medical fields. Young educators who are rich in spirit and willing to develop their experience in devising and implementing effective educational strategies.

Objectives:

  • Enhance the teaching and presentation skills of young maxillofacial prosthetic educators through focused lectures and presentations by highly experienced professionals in the field.
  • Strengthen clinical supervision abilities for young educators by engaging in clinical observation, discussing various maxillofacial defect cases, and proposing effective prosthetic treatments.
  • Improve publication and presentation skills through in-depth lectures led by editors of leading international journals in maxillofacial prosthetics and prosthodontics.
  • Introduce the latest digital technologies in maxillofacial prosthetics education and research, and explore their benefits for enhancing teaching effectiveness.

Workshop Information

Style: Workshop style with intensive lectures and clinical observation sessions

Date: April 22-25, 2025

Place: Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals, the Academic Centre of Reconstructive Science, London, UK.

Certification: A certificate of completion including hours of lectures and clinical observation will be given to those who attended every assigned session.

Registration and Course Fees: Registration and course fees will be supported by ICP.

Number of Participants: Limited to 12 worldwide maxillofacial prosthetic educators.

  • Recommendation letter from your department’s head or school dean.
  • Current ICP membership certificate.

Application Deadline:

A complete set of application and documents must be sent to yMPE workshop administration team at ([email protected]), and be received by November 15, 2024.

Notes:

  • This workshop is funded by ICP; therefore, the participants MUST be current ICP members.
  • Applications arriving after the deadline will not be accepted. In addition, no documents, once submitted, will be returned to applicants for any reason.
  • The workshop will cover the local transportation, 5-nights shared accommodations with participants and lunch during this workshop. However, airline and high-speed train are your responsibility. The workshop will not cover any cancellation fee.
  • The workshops will include clinical observations of maxillofacial prosthetics and restorative dentistry clinics, as such participants will need to be able to demonstrate satisfactory immunisation certificates prior to being accepted for the workshop.
  • Participants are highly recommended to purchase travel and health insurance before traveling to UK. The workshop is not responsible for any aviation, accident or other insurance related to travel to and from the UK. We will only be responsible for the workshop and its related activities.
